The "Hauts-Pays" Natural Park

South of Mons, the "Hauts-Pays" Natural Park invites visitors to explore a region where nature reigns supreme. Nicknamed the "natural pearl" of Wallonia, this haven of peace offers tranquility and authenticity. With its preserved landscapes, cultural heritage, and numerous outdoor activities, it is a must-visit destination for nature and local produce lovers.

The "Hauts-Pays" Natural Park: a preserved natural area

Established in 1998, the Hauts-Pays Natural Park covers more than 12,000 hectares and includes six municipalities: Colfontaine, Dour, Frameries, Hensies, Honnelles, and Quiévrain. This area is a sanctuary of biodiversity, featuring diverse landscapes ranging from lush forests and flower-filled meadows to wetlands. The region is home to rare animal and plant species, such as the fire salamander and the purple helleborine, a wild orchid.
The park is committed to conserving this natural heritage by conducting ecological studies, raising public awareness, and creating protected areas. Visitors can observe an unspoiled environment and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation.
