In the 1960s, an alderman was served a plate of pork ribs accompanied by mashed potatoes and piccalilli sauce, a visually unappealing dish. Upon seeing this, he exclaimed, "It's just berdouille!" From this anecdote, the legendary Mons pork ribs were born.
